About Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE)fullsizeoutput_7e8

SECE classes are for children ages 0 – 3 and their parents.  The SECE curriculum is unique among music and movement classes – it is based on a mastery of concepts and the development of musical ability alongside fundamental learning and social skills.

Founded on the core philosophical principles of pioneering music educator and humanitarian Shin’ichi Suzuki, the SECE program is carefully structured to nurture the abilities and character of each child from the very beginning of life with love and respect.

Respect is also accorded to parents, recognizing their role as their child’s most significant teacher.  SECE teachers are trained to support and guide parents, helping them gain fluency with the repertoire and refine their skills as active observers of their child’s learning process.  In turn, their child develops foundational skills and concepts including:

  • listening
  • rhythmic and melodic awareness
  • sequencing and pattern recognition
  • sensitive group participation
  • increased vocabulary and verbal skills
  • memory work
  • confidence through mastery
